Introducing our SG Memory iPhone app

Posted by on Apr 20, 2012 in Memento | 6 Comments

Today, we’re pleased to announce the release of our newly-minted iOS app at the iTunes App Store, ‘SG Memory’. It will make it easier for you to share and contribute your memories as they happen.

Snap a photo of your favourite char kway teow stall or a take a short video clip of that family visit to the beach. Then use the app to submit your memory, to the SingaporeMemory.sg portal, via your iPhone.

SG Memory was co-designed and developed with our friends from Nanyang Polytechnic School of Engineering.

You can use the app to:

  • Capture a memory as it happens and share your stories with others
  • Share your memories with friends on Facebook and upload your memories to SingaporeMemory.sg
  • Explore the most recent and popular memories contributed to the Singapore Memory Project

Here are some answers to questions that you may have:

Where can I download SG Memory?
You can download SG Memory from the iTunes App Store.

Which iOS devices are supported?
The app will work on all iOS devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running the iOS 5 mobile operating system. To upgrade your device to iOS 5, connect the device to your Mac or PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes.

Do I need to sign up for an account on SingaporeMemory.sg to use SG Memory?
Not if you wish to browse only. You do not need an account on SingaporeMemory.sg to browse memories contributed by others. However, you will need to sign up if you wish to upload memories. You can sign-up using your Facebook account for now. Our future app updates will include sign-ups through Google, Yahoo, Windows Live and NLB accounts.

What do I need to do to start uploading my memories?
If you have signed up for an account on SingaporeMemory.sg using your Facebook account credentials, tap on “Yes, I want to contribute” on the login screen after you launch the app. Then, logon to your Facebook account to begin uploading your memories.

If you do not have a SingaporeMemory.sg account, tap on “First time users: sign up here” on the login screen to sign up for an account using your Facebook account credentials. Sign-ups through Google, Yahoo, Windows Live and NLB accounts will be supported in future updates.

How many memories can I upload?
You may upload as many memories as you wish. For each memory, you may upload 1 image (up to 3MB) or 1 video capped at 20MB, or 20 seconds of footage taken with the app’s camera function. You can also choose to upload a memory in text without images or videos.
