Since the closing date last Thursday, we have been trudging through the mountain of submissions that came in from schools all across Singapore, heeding our call for the “IremembermySchoolDays – School Competition“. As you can tell from the photo above, the pile is really quite big. Altogether 87 newspaper mockups were submitted in time for the competition and we’re now in the process of screening them based on adherence to competition guidelines as well as quality.
We are fortunate to have Mr Lai Tuck Chong, our Memory Corps volunteer, as one of the judges who went through the entries. Regular readers of this blog will already know that Tuck Chong is no stranger to providing guidance to students on work relating to the Singapore Memory Project. His earlier role as a mentor for the student internship programme for Victoria Junior College was well received by students and teachers of VJC, and we’re glad to have him back this round as a judge.
Already we’re seeing immense potential in some of the submissions and we can’t wait to see them being developed with the guidance from industry professionals who will serve as mentors for the selected teams. There will also be a mentorship day-camp that will take place later this month.
So if you’re keenly awaiting the announcement of the shortlisted teams, we’ll be revealing the results on tomorrow 8th June 2012; keep those fingers crossed! Thereafter, preparations should be made for your attendance at the mentorship day-camp in the next 2 weeks. We’ll send more information to the teams and the respective teachers-in-charge, so watch out for that!
Special thanks to Tuck Chong for taking the time to select the shortlisted teams. Watch this space for the announcement tomorrow!
