As a frequent visitor to this blog, you’ve already heard about our grassroots outreach initiative that brings the Singapore Memory Project to the heartlands of Singapore. We’ve already covered historically rich Toa Payoh in March and have collected many wonderful memories of Yuhua in May.

In July, the Singapore Memory Project moves to the northeastern reaches of Singapore at Punggol as part of the upcoming Punggol North Racial and Religious Harmony Street Parade 2012. It’s an honour to be invited by Patrick Pang and the Punggol CCC team and this year’s street parade looks to be bigger than ever!

Here’s what you’ll be expecting at our booth:

• Exclusive photos and documents from Mr Lawrence Basapa of his grandfather’s zoo in Punggol and Ms Lee Seow Ser’s stories of growing up in Track 8 of old Punggol;
• Video interviews with interesting residents of Punggol, including one with Mdm Jenny Ho, one of Singapore’s earliest pageant beauties;
• We’ll be running a memory submission giveaway for residents who pen a memory at our booths, and to top that off we’ll also be handing out our freshly minted Singapore Memory balloons to dress up the entire street parade!

We also heard from our friends at Punggol North that besides the festive street parade, there will also be goodie bags, a mini food fare with lots of games and they will also be staging an epic record-breaking Tug-of-War. So what are you waiting for? See you this Sunday 15th July from 4pm to 9pm at Punggol Field (between Block 173A and 175D)!
