Boy, we can’t wait to get our hands on this! This November see Singapore’s neighbourhoods with fresh eyes: Urban Sketchers, together with Epigram Books, release  We ♥ Toa Payoh, the first instalment of the series, Our Neighbourhoods.

The book features art by Urban Sketchers, an informal group of artists who draw the places they visit on site, capturing their observations of each location. Their works are a representation, a snap shot, a memory, a record, of a particular place and time. And you know what? It is awesome.

We ♥ Toa Payoh showcases landmarks such as the Toa Payoh Swimming Complex and the Lian Shan Shuang Ling Monastery. The art is varied in subject and medium, a parallel of the diversity of Singapore’s urban landscape—full of contradiction and quirks, but always beautiful.

The next instalment of the series (released in December) explores the corners, streets, and markets of one of the nation’s most beloved neighbourhoods, Tiong Bahru. Keep an eye out for it! In the meantime, check out what you can expect from We ♥ Toa Payoh below!

We ♥ Toa Payoh can be found in any good book store from November onwards. For more information on the series, check out Epigram Books’ website. To find out more about Urban Sketchers Singapore and what they do, click here.
