On 24th November 2012, as part of our ongoing irememberDoingGood initiative, the Singapore Memory Project joined in the celebration of International Volunteer Day 2012 at a carnival event organised by National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) at SMU Green.

It was a day filled with fun, joy and warmth as we got together to show appreciation to the selfless volunteers who give so much of their time and effort to make our world a better place.

National Library and Singapore Memory Project Director Gene Tan receiving a token of appreciation from Minister Lawrence Wong, who was the Guest of Honour at the event.
Visitors at the event were encouraged to express their appreciation to volunteers on our post-it wall. The goal was to collect enough heartfelt notes to form the words “irememberDoingGood”, and we did it!

Minister Lawrence Wong himself also left a note for volunteers on our post-it wall!

Thank you to everyone who came down. Do contribute your own memories of doing good as well. If you have been inspired to do good, or are just grateful for the kind deeds of others, we’d love to hear from you!
